1998 Return Voyage - In 1998 the Matthew crossed the Atlantic again to return home to Bristol via France

After a snowy winter in Toronto the Matthew returned to Bristol. Stopping at Newfoundland for a quick check, the then made a dash across the Atlantic, trying to beat Cabot's record of 15 days. Light winds stretched the passage out to 18 days but a series of maritime festivals in France and the south of England made up for the disappointment.

The Matthew finally cruised back up the Avon and into Bristol docks late in the summer to the enthusiastic welcome of the city.
